US: Medicare to hit financial woes sooner than expected

In this article, as predicted by my governement teacher Michael Palo, Social Security is expected to run out of funds by the year  2026. Even further cut backs have estimated that Medicare is to run out of funding for its programs in the upcoming years. This is devaastating to those who use these programs some 60 million Americans use.

Why resist a legal path to citizenship if voters support it?

The overall main idea of this article is that most Americans support illegal immigrants the right to a formal legalization process  to become full American citizens. In a poll that was taken in 2006 over 78% of Americans supported legalization, if immigrants were given backround checks, paid fines, and had jobs. This discussion has been of hot topic, and as said by one political analyist, "Is more like a marathon, than a sprint."

Obama visits Texas, but eyes larger Latino vote outside state

Basically, what this article is trying to explain is that the Latino vote is a stronghold to Obama's campaign. It states that even though Obama will not win over Texas for the Latino vote, it will win it in Nevada, Arizona, and other places such as Virginia. It also goes on to say that eventhough the turnout for Latino voters was 2-3, we still need more voters. Finally, I would like to point out that this  article includes the word, "fillabuster."

Poll: Economy fears temper Obama's bin Laden bump

This article depicts that eventhoug Obama's ratings have gone up as far as publicity, his reputation as far as being president has dropped. The economy has still been an ongoing issue, and remains the same in the American publics eyes. This is actually what Obama should be focusing on, rather than the war which is damaging our economy even further. Until Obama can make a change sustainable for the American public, it will be a close election in 2012.

With bin Laden dead, should the Afghan war die with him?

What this article depicts is, "should the death of one terrorist (Osama) end the war in Afganishtan?" The answer is not quiet, with so many new terrorist trying to make a name for themselves, it would be stupid for our military to move out just because of one victorious kill. The fight in Afgan, however, will down size its troops by 10,000.

The secret team that killed bin Laden

In the wake of a new victory for the U.S. a secret Navy Seal Group a.k.a the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) killed and capured 22 victums in a compund inside of Pakistan. In Islambad, they found the head of the operator of the September 11 attack on the twin towers. Osama Bin Laden was shot twice on the left side of his face. Later, the same crew recovered the body, and brought it back to their commanding officer, the president of the United States, Barrack Obama.

Profane Trump: 'Our leaders are ... stupid people'

It seems the more and more Donald Trump wants to become president, the more and more controversy he brings along with him. In a Las Vegas speech given  by the wanna-be canidate, Trump cussed up a storm  saying, "F--king Politicians" and calling out president Obama. He goes on to say that Obama would rather make schools over seas, rather then here in the U.S. In my personal opinion, Trump is not only a disgrace to Americans across the nation,  he is a joke in the political  world, and has no right to even be associated into politics.

Discussion Reflection: Immigration Refrom

In my opinion the class discussion we had was full of good topics, and heated debate. I for one saw that  Mark Arnold made some very well thoughtout arguments, that left me wanting for more. Mark brought up a very good point that immigrant workers are essential to not only our economy, they make up the vast majority of the workforce here in America. I for one agree on this matter, and stood by my arguments at the end of the discuttion. I felt that there was also some arguments that were more of like statements, and were rhetorical. To this I say that the discussion was an overall sucess, and that as a group we are begining  to grow and grow more as we learn form not only eachother, but from the wonderful  world of  politics.

Obama puts new national security team in place

In this article pertaining mainly on national security, Obama replaces a general for a CIA director. Now, the reason Obama has the CIA and the military working together is simple. My theory is, he wants to infiltrate Afghanistan rebel leaders as soon as possible. With the United States in heavy debt, we cannot afford to keep funding a never ending war. That is why we have continuously dried out our country through budget cuts, and accumulated 400 billions dollars, and will continue to fund this oil war. That is why we need to stop what were doing, and put an end to this war, before we run the country into bankruptcy.

Royal wedding: Mexican teen blocked at UK airport

In Mexico city, at a British Embassy, 19 year old Estibalis Chavez was denied from British immigration officials in attending Prince Williams wedding. Estibalis, who says her mother adored Princess Diana and Williams, wanted to see the festivities in London. Immigration officials stated that she had no safe place to stay for her three week trip. However, despite the hunger strike she endured for 16 days, custom officials were firm in their decision. A Mexican lobbyist named Fitch donated $1,250 or (15,000) to the girl.

Obama says new task force will examine gas prices

   To most Americans, 4 dollars per gallon at the gas pump is outrageous. President Barrack Obama talked about why gas prices have risen over the past couple of months. He explained that tensions in northern Africa, and the Middle East has caused the spike in oil. He does not like the fact that there maybe companies out there who are, “cheating the Americans people, just to make a quick buck.” Basically, the cause is our involvement in the wars in Iran, Afghanistan, and Africa.

Oklahoma 4th state to ban abortions after 20 weeks

In Oklahoma state, a new law was passed banning all abortions over 20 weeks. This new law would also prevent insurance companies in allowing abortions at their hospitals/clinics. This new law was made after evidence of the baby ability to feel the pain, at such a young age. The law sparked controversy on a federal level, because its federal law that women be allowed to have abortions.

On the road to sell deficit approach, Obama 'optimistic' about bipartisan plan

The economy can only be stabilized, if Republicans and Democrats stop they’re bickering, and do the job they are suppose to do. We all know that budget cuts will effect/affect us all in some way, but we need to act together. Republicans have always been depicted as the wealthy and, and Democrats as looking out for the American public. Many Republicans don’t like the fact that budget cuts are going to come out of they’re wealth, and Democrats from they’re Medicare. Truth is, everyone’s going to get hurt from this new proposal. However, we will all reap the benefits from it, should we chose to work together, and as one.

NYT: 'Gang of six' in Senate seeking a plan on debt

      In this article titled,” Gang of Six..” out of president Barrack Obama’s proposal on the 4 trillion dollar plan to eliminate debt, six senators rose for a bipartisanship. Three senators and three democrats join together to discuss the plan. Many of the senators’ are older, and are experienced in this particular situation. To that they came up with a reliable solution. Should Republicans agree to higher taxes, and reduced military spending. Democrats would agree to curb Medicare and Medicaid spending.

The GOP's big gamble

Republicans made a unanamious decision to cut Medicare for people under 55. The votes held were about half and half, but for the nation it seems like a dumb move. QOW President Barrack Obama's Approach on 14 trillion dollar deficit

In this video, President Barrack Obama addresses the nation on what he will plan to do, to stabilize our economy. First, Obama plans to use a, “scalpel, instead of a machete.” to eliminate our nation’s debt. Second, out president plans to make a plan over the next couple of years to save over 4 trillion dollars. Finally, he plans to invest in medical research, education, and in the futures of America. To this I say, finally. Someone has stood up, and admitted to fault. Obviously, both Democratic and Republicans cannot do this on their own. Their bickering is a lost cause, as millions of dollars are still wasted everyday. Now, our president has come fourth to fix the mistakes of our past. He will do it as it should be as well, the right way. Instead of taking away money from Social Security, Medicare, and other government programs. We shall take it from the hands of the giving person, an American with a good heart. We have always been a nation where we can make enough, to give enough to our poor. That has always been the American dream, according to our Obama. I agree with hit statement, and it brings fourth much optimism for the future. As a nation, we are going to take this economy piece by piece, and fix it one at a time. I understand now why young Americans, like myself, could not grasp the meaning of why we are so much in debt. Why we could not just wish the economy to be stable. It is because it never has been, and never will be. That is why I can count on, not only our president, but in our people to come together and make this dream a reality.

In financial crisis, no prosecutions of top figures

Basically what this article is trying to imply is, for the millions that were lost in risky loans and misuse of money, there was no real punishment. The people that owned The Federal Reserve Bank in New York, Manhattan simply walked away without even a slap on the wrist. Remembering, that this bank  sees over thousands, if not millions of banks across the nation. Many financial workers that directly effect the economy were put onto trial, and later dismissed of the charges. Which leaves the question, why are the people who messed up our economy, still working in out bank systems today?

Ga. House to take up thorny issue of immigration

     A bill that is trying to be passed in Georgia states that a program called, “E-Verify” must be used, before an immigrant can gat a license to work. This bill is solely intended for those who are looking to get hired by an employer who has to make a decision on who to keep. This program will allow employers to enter the immigrants into a system especially for this purpose. The bill has yet to be signed or not, however, Georgian representatives feel very confident it will.

Debate stirred over 1st major US tar sands mine

As gas prices begin to skyrocket to 5.00 a gallon, a new proposal is made in Utah. In Utah, there is oil useable to supply America’s high demand for gasoline. It proposes we make oil from a tar like substance that grow on the surface. However, the process demands a high percentage of water, and valuable resources. It also is somewhat risky, and may pollute the area surrounding it, including, the Colorado River. Environmentalists say that the risks simply outweigh the benefits, and should not be taken into use. The companies that plan take the oil say the process is harmless, and will leave Utah the way it was. A hearing is set to take place May 25^th discussing the topic.

Budget deal reached, government shutdown averted

Through all the misconception about the government shutdown, it wont happen. President Barrack Obama has unsuccessfully averted the government shutdown. Republicans along with Baener, did not see the move as necessary. They saw it as shameful, and saw the economy as being saved in another way.

Mexican cartels corrupting more US border officials?

Due to illegal drug trafficking spilling into U.S soil, cartels turn to bribe U.S. border patrol man into, "looking the other way." Corruption has long since existed within the border patrol in the previous years. In face, almost 80% of all U.S border patrol men have already been arrested. With even more and more border patrol men under investigation, Obama steps in to make changes in watching those still out there. Thirteen F.B.I agents have been appointed to this assignment, along with the border officials to submit to polygraph screenings.

In the question of who is to blame for the total governmetn shutdown, the answer is politics. So much political debate has happened that everything will have to shutdown. Some blame the Republicans, others blame The Conservative Tea Party, or even the Democratic party. Obama: U.S. economy cannot afford shutdown

In the recent rumors of a total government shutdown, House Speaker John Boehner discusses alternatives to cut spending. Should the White House shutdown, it could possibly save America 33 billion dollars. However, there is a lot of political debate, as to, whether or not it is a good decision. The alternative plan is to keep government running, and cut major spending in government operations. In essence, it would cut spending through a long period of time, by passing bills. To an extent this seems reasonable, but in my opinion, we should do both.

Wipe-maker shuts doors after U.S. Marshals arrive on site

In the recent recall of alcohol wipes used in drugstores, hospitals, and Walgreens. Investigators found the cause to be an infection in raw materials used to make Wipe-Makers products. New documents also showed that bacteria was found in water tanks in factories. The products have already been linked to the death of a 2 year old boy in Houston, Texas.

WH pushes back on charge that it didn't consult with Congress

This article indicates that there was no official ruling that stated Libya was a, “no fly zone.” It says that it was never debated by congress to be passed into an official ruling in the U.N. 11 Metro Areas Where the Jobs Recovery Has Failed

   


In this review on our job recovery systems failure to aid the economy, a list is given on some of the worst possible cities to find a job in. With Riverside, California ranking in at no. 5 on the list. The review goes in depth, and shows just how many jobs were lost, and what kinds are available. Having just turned 18 years old myself, it doesn’t give me much confidence in looking for a job. However, this is no excuse for applying myself in the best way possible. In wake of Wisconsin law, can labor keep its political clout?

    

     To the law passed in Wisconsin by governor Scott Walker, the American people ask, “how will this new law effect/affect my job?” To the private sector this means, hiring high quality government workers will be more difficult. The costs simply outweigh the benefits of working for the government. This is because the new limits put on collective bargaining will deter an employee from joining a union. The decline in union members is shrinking, and has been for over 61 years. It would seem that union member are fighting for a lost cause.

Obama prods Congress on education law renewal

Obama wishes to reform education by the next school semester, in the fall. His plan is to re-write the, “No Child Left Behind” bill that was passed by former president George W. Bush, in 2002. He says that by asking students to improve in reading and math to proficiency, he will be able to identify bad schools. U.S. intelligence is confirming that Gadhafi’s military forces are, “strong, and will prevail.” Although, Libya has very essential oil plants, its not worth the risk of going to war. Wis. GOP bypasses Dems, cuts collective bargaining

Republican Walker finally made a move today, when him and other republicans gathered for a vote. This vote was key in the protests in Madison, Wisconsin for collective bargaining rights. Wisconsin Senate stripped all collective bargaining rights from public workers, mainly teachers. This exempted, however, policemen and firefighters. In a statement made by the AFL-CIO they said, "just because Democrats failed to do their job, doesn't mean we will too." An on site protester called the Republicans, "Cowards!"

'Race to Nowhere' targets academic pressures

   In this video, students feel overwhelmed by the excessive homework and tests. Parents feel that school work, extra curricular activates, AP courses are getting in the way of family time. A student feels that everyday feels like a daily routine, having to deal with AP courses and cross country. However, some students feel like they aren't being challenged enough, and need to take AP in order to feel like they're learning. In this particular case, students take these classes to make their learning experience more interesting, and brain stimulating. Some teachers have assigned a no-homework policy, and are actually giving the students the breathing room they need. Parents still feel that, "We still have to back off."

Reversal of fortune in Wisconsin

    

    Michael Moore, yes the yellow journalist of our time, has said that the protest in Wisconsin have, "woken up a sleeping giant." Concerning the way Obama and Walker are running this country has drastically shown itself in the form of polls. Since the protest started, Obama is showing a 53-43% approval. On the other hand, Walker is showing 43-53% disapproving what he is doing in the White House. Voter turnout in 2010 Midterm election dropped 30%, usually bring the most popular election. Obama, Calderon pledge cooperation on drug wars

  



In Mexico, the drug cartels are growing in power, and are spilling their operations into U.S soil. President Felipe Calderon, and President Barrack meet once again to address this issue. Obama agreed to aid Mexico in providing transportation to stop their operations from growing in power. However, there have been tensions between the presidents. Calderon would like for his trucks to be able to commerce within America. Obama, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the trucks do not meet standard environmental requirements. Tariffs have been put on exported American goods because of this action. Calderon plans to take off these tariffs, when the first trucks cross the American borders.

    In the recent protest happening in Madison, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker purposed an alternative to eliminating collective bargaining. White House: Budget debate moving in right direction

   

Due to extreme economic debt, President Barrack Obama is calling for a shutdown of the federal government. It has been 15 years since Clinton called for a shutdown in 1996, also due also to budget crisis. It seems as if America is slipping away from the grasp of reality. Education, the knowlegde we need to adapt to a better life is diminishing little by little. Everyday, standards are lowering, buget cuts are increasing, and the future of America is dying. What this political cartoon depicts is how much we are concerned with meaningless telivision programs, and how little we pay attention to whatreally matters. America's future, and what changes we can make in our government. We need to change the way we think, so that we can change the way we act.

Nothing new about mosques in New York

Since the controversy began, there have been many misconceptions of mosque buildings in New York City. The plan to build a mosque near the hollow ground, where once the Twin Towers stood has been heated. Many are offended that the Muslims would even think of putting it so near, where countless lives were lost on 9/11. However, mosque building have been spreader all across Manhattan since 1907. Since then, they have been living around us, and they too felt the tragic events of 9/11. Should we as Americans convict the innocent, when they too fell victim to the lives that were lost? Shaykh Abdallah Adhami, a religious adviser of the Islamic faith, announces his departure from the mosque project. He said that, "He would no longer be involved with preaching the Quran, and within the joint statement he has with the center's developer." He wishes to focus more on his book about the interpretation of the Quran in English. The center's planners would like for Shaykh come from time to time, to preach the quadrant as a guest.

GOP divided over Obama response to Egypt

In response to the political turmoil in Cairo, Egypt Democrats and Republican's refocus on America's agenda. Which is to promote Democracy, and to keep they're closest ally in the Middle East. Politicians now see that the riots in Egypt are slowly erasing our only hope of making peace in Afghanistan. They have come to the conclusion that, "America should speak as one voice." Class Disscussion Reflection: Health Care

   My overall experience with the class discussion on Health Care Reform was pretty positive. I learned many things about Health Care through my peers, that I normally would not have known about. I must admit, however, I was hesitant to speak at first. Once things started flowing, I became more confident in asking my fellow classmates questions. I suppose, I was looking more for a debate than a discussion really. I believe as a class we covered the main problems involving Health Care. I look forward to more interesting topics as the year progresses.

Democrat sees health law surviving repeal move

   In relation to the law that was passed by Florida's Judge Roger Vinison, Democrat's feel confident that the law will still stand. Supporting them, 47 Senate Republican agree on this matter. However, this still leaves 60 open Senate seats, open for repeal. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid supports the new law. Claiming, that by mandating health insurance it puts, "a burden on small business's." That we should instead, "put the patients in control of their health care."

Florida judge rules health care law unconstitutional

                                      

      Judge Roger Vinson, a federal judge from Pensacola, Florida has ruled the Health Care bill unconstitutional. Declaring that the Bill is giving Congress, the ability to do, "whatever they want." Vinison describes that the Bill is suppose to, "regulate" the economy, and not dictate the, "inactivity of the individual." In this case, Americans requirement to buy Health Insurance. Him, and 26 other states agree with him on this matter. A Supreme Court hearing is expected, to decide this matter.

Due to some recent controversy, Rahm Emmanuel was accused of not meeting Illinois residency requirements. In a recent Supreme Court ruling, however, voted in favor of Emmanuel. they stated, "Emmanuel rented out his house, and showed intent to return to his Chicago home." Further evidence supported his return, by leaving behind personal belonging's, such as, his wife's dress, pictures of his family, ect. Court: Emanuel cannot run for mayor

In a recent article concerning Rahm Emanuel’s upcoming run for mayor of Chicago. Court officials have found Rahm unable to run, because of a residency requirement, he failed to meet. Emanuel lived with his family in Chicago, before having to rent out his home to work for President Barrack Obama. He intended to return to his former residency, but never did.
